Get Started Pack – Trifold Inserts

Our trifolds are perfect for heavier wetters. Made with two layers of heavy weight bamboo-cotton, they pack in a lot of absorbency when folded up, but are quicker to dry as they open up.

Fold along the lines into three and stuff into the pocket or lay on top if you prefer to use the shell as a cover (washing the cover after each use as it can not be wiped clean). Alone this is great for day use and lasts us several hours.

You can also fold them the other way if you want to; fold one short end down and then fold into three, This boosts absorption at one end so you can position it where you need it; front for boys and tummy sleepers. Also great to fit the newborn size setting.

If (by any chance) you did need even more absorption during the day you could pair it with another insert, including our bamboo-cotton booster. Please note cloth nappies are recommended to be changed every 2-3 hours during the day.

 

Can you use these overnight?

We've had great success overnight popping a trifold into the pocket. We then add a Hemp Hourglass insert on top of the pocket and then top it off with a Bamboo-cotton Booster. This Booster has a stay-dry layer. During our son's heaviest wetting period we also added the Small Booster inside the pocket.

Please note that night cloth is a different ballgame to day and it is trial and error. Babies also change as they grow and feeding habits change. Extra heavy wetters may need a dedicated fitted nappy. Our shells can be used as a cover over other types of nappies like prefolds or fitteds! (just wash after each use as they can not be wiped clean). Feel free to message us for advice.

 

Natural fibre inserts need 6-8 washes to build absorbency. They will shrink with washing and may puff up too, all normal. Give them a gentle stretch when wet to flatten them out. You can add to other washing or use straight away and just expect to change more often when they are new.

 

After customer requests we've decided to leave it up to the customer to decide if they would like hip snaps or not.

Per the picture, we can add a hip snap to the top of the waist on the left and right sides if desired.

Hip snaps can prevent 'wing droop,' particularly on active children or when a heavier/bulkier nappy is being work (overnight for example). 'Wing Droop' is when the wings of the nappy start to droop/drop down at the front. This can lead to not getting such a great leg seal and the nappy dropping down.

Omitting hip snaps can make the nappy last longer (up to 18kg) as the nappy waist can be extended out larger. With  hip snaps added the nappy can accommodate children up to about 15kg.
