Bamboo Terry Prefold

Our heavy weight bamboo terry ‘prefold’ is a really versatile addition to your stash!

It is so lush and soft, and stays flexible wash after wash.

This customisable flat rectangle  is 3 layers all over. It doesn’t have extra absorbency in the middle or stitched lines like a regular prefold but it can be folded to suit many combinations and newborns, OSFM and XL nappies:

• Fold up in many ways, tailoring to where you need more absorbency.
• Fold up and stuff inside our pockets or on top if using our pocket shell as a cover (wash each use as it can not be wiped clean).
• Fold and fix around baby like a traditional prefold (in angel wing fold – see gallery pictures) and use with a cover. Add additional boosters if needed. Our Bamboo-cotton Booster has a stay-dry layer!
• Fold into a large trifold to fit XL nappies on smaller settings.
• Fold in half and combine with another insert if needed to fit XL nappies on the largest setting.

 

Can you use these overnight?

We often use one of these prefolds overnight; folded down at one end and then into a trifold (see gallery pictures) paired with an Hourglass Hemp insert and stuffed into the pocket.

Overnight we’ve also used them like a fitted nappy, folded around bubs in the angel wing fold (see gallery pictures) with a bamboo-cotton booster on top. You can add another insert between the prefold and the nappy shell if you need to. Our bubs is a few months old now so we don’t do the prefold up, the cover just keeps it together.

Please note that night cloth is a different ballgame to day and it is trial and error. Babies also change as they grow and feeding habits change. Extra heavy wetters may need a dedicated fitted nappy. Our shells can be used as a cover over other types of nappies like prefolds or fitteds! (just wash after each use as they can not be wiped clean). Feel free to message us for advice.

 

Natural fibre inserts need 6-8 washes to build absorbency. They will shrink with washing and may puff up too, all normal. Give them a gentle stretch when wet to flatten them out. You can add to other washing or use straight away and just expect to change more often when they are new.
